Homer snuggles the northern edge of Kachemak Bay, one of Alaska’s richest marine environments.  Spectacular views of one of the world’s longest natural spits, Kachemak Bay , sparkling glaciers and surrounding mountains can be seen as you enter the city.  Known as the “Halibut Capital of the World,” saltwater fishing is a primary attraction, though other activities include hiking in Kachemak Bay State Park, ferry trips, beach combing, and sight-seeing.
