Kenai is located at the mouth of the Kenai River, where it empties into Cook Inlet.  Old Town Kenai is the site of one of the oldest Russian Orthodox Churches on the peninsula.  Oil refineries and support for the many off-shore platforms are located in Kenai.  Runs of wild salmon flood into the river each summer and are harvested by both commercial processors and sport fishers.  Wildlife viewing and spectacular vistas across Cook Inlet are available in the Kenai area.
